-
Get listed in as many of the major search engines as
you can.
-
Trade links with other web sites like yours. If you
are promoting your homepage, try trading links with
other people's homepages.
-
Install
a "Tell-A-Friend" or "Recommend This
Site" script so that visitors may easily tell
their friends about your product or service. There
are many sources in the Internet that offer 3rd party
scripts that all that is required of you is to insert
the HTML code into your web page(s).
-
Try using a banner exchange service, which will let
you advertise your site on other sites. The catch
is you have to display a banner on your page as well.
Target your banner towards the audience that you feel
more likely to find your product or service useful
to them.
-
Sign other people's guestbooks, and get one of your
own. Not everyone will return your visit, but it works
well when they do.
-
Apply for some web site or homepage awards. Some of
these will link back to your site if you are one of
the award winners.
-
Create your own web page award. When someone wins,
they post your award picture which links back to your
site.
-
Tell all of your friends about it.....Word of mouth
can be a great way to get more visitors.
-
Add your web address to your e-mail signature. This
lets your e-mail contacts find you on the web if they
need to.
-
Add your site to a "free for all links page". This
may or may not help a whole lot, but you do get to
see a really long list of links.
-
Of course, you can pay another site to display your
advertisement. The cost of this depends on the amount
of traffic their site gets and their method of billing.
